Locallista Called Four of Our Clients. All Four Scored Us a 10.

Most testimonials work the same way. A business picks its happiest clients, asks nicely, and publishes the kind words. So when Locallista told us they would phone our past clients themselves and publish whatever came back, we said yes and hoped the work would speak for itself.

What Locallista is

Locallista is a directory that helps expats find trusted, English-speaking service providers, covering more than 60 categories in Singapore, from cleaners and movers to accountants. Providers cannot simply sign up: listings are invitation-based, reviews are collected by Locallista itself (usually by phone), and according to Locallista's vetting policy, any provider whose rating drops below 9.00 out of 10 is removed from the platform. Singapore is one of five live cities, alongside Lisbon, Barcelona, Madrid, and Amsterdam.

How the vetting worked

Before our profile went live, Locallista's team phoned four of our past clients, one by one, over two days in early August. We gave Locallista the list and let each client know a call might come, out of courtesy, but that was the end of our involvement: we were not on the calls, and nobody was briefed on what to say. Each call ran between four and seven minutes, and the summaries went up as our first reviews.

All four scored us a 10 overall. The category scores underneath are not all perfect, and we would rather show you that than round it up: across the twenty individual scores we received sixteen 10s, three 9s, and one 8. More on the 8 in a moment.

What our clients said

Locallista publishes each review with the reviewer's first name and the service they used. Here is what came back, in their own words.

On incorporation and getting started (Amy, who has been with us for close to three years):

"If I have any questions, I just need to text someone and they usually reply or call me back within an hour or so. I've already recommended them to a couple of friends who started businesses too."

On accounting for a creative agency (Estella):

"As creatives we do not really know too much about accounting, and they have solved a lot of our accounting problems and made it really streamlined and effortless."

On working with a nonprofit (Melissa):

"They really tick all the boxes, reliable, reachable, and we get regular reminders for things. As a nonprofit organization, they were very willing to work within our budget constraints, and that was huge for us."

On technology and continuity (Kristen, our longest-standing reviewer of the four):

"We wanted an accounting firm and bookkeeping service that leveraged the latest technology, so we weren't paper handling and looking for things, and that was exactly our experience. We've had the same account manager the whole time."

Kristen also gave us our only 8, on quality, because she goes elsewhere for fractional CFO support. Fair point: we do not offer it, and we would rather a vetted review say so than have a testimonial pretend otherwise.

What we took from it

Reading the four reviews together, the same words keep appearing: reliable, reachable, never miss deadlines. Honestly, that is the job. We were thrilled to be named Singapore's Xero Partner of the Year and Digital Innovator of the Year at the Xero Awards 2025, but "they reply within the hour" is the review we actually work for.
